In-Situ announces new line of fluorometers to the Aqua TROLL family

EMS is delighted to announce that In-Situ are going to be bringing out a brand-new range of fluorometers. This new patented technology will improve the detection of harmful algal blooms and tracer studies, allowing for better decision making and more effective intervention.

Compatible with the popular Aqua TROLL 500 and Aqua TROLL 600 Multiparameter Sondes, these fluorometers will be the only sensors on the market with Integrated Optical Compensation. The patented technology provides you with more accurate and stable measurements, since it uses a second detector that compensates for LED drift over temperature and time.

This soon to be available line of sensors includes Rhodamine WT, Chlorophyll a and a separate Blue-Green Algae Phycocyanin (BGA-PC) and Phycoerythrin (BGA-PE) sensors.

The new sensors will be ideal for applications in coastal, lake and reservoir monitoring as well as for tracer studies in rivers and streams

As the latest addition to the platform, In-situ is expanding their set of sensors to help users streamline fieldwork and reduce monitoring costs.

These fluorometers are stable at low detection limits, unlike more traditional fluorescence sensors. Consequently, this allows for early identification of concentration changes, more effective decision making and better intervention.

Steven Sewell, In-Situ’s product manager says,

“We’ve designed our sensors and multiprobes for minimal maintenance, with internal diagnostics and simplified calibration so you’re not left struggling in the field. The sensors retain your calibration data, so you can switch them out and use only the probes you need.”

Additional functionality includes:

  • Isolated optical frequencies, for minimised interference and improved accuracy;
  • Ambient light rejection, to reduce any bias in data and ensure reliable performance;
  • Low interference spectral bands, for a smaller and more targeted range of the light spectrum to reduce interference and increase accuracy.
